BRIEF PROFILE
Richard OKUTI brings a wealth of expertise in Export Development and Trade, specializing in the
transformation of SME ecosystems into globally competitive entities.
As a distinguished market linkage expert, Richard has worked with organizations such as Centre for
the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) of the Netherlands and The United Nations,
International Trade Centre (ITC), driving initiatives to facilitate SMEs & Start-ups’ access to
international markets. His work included influencing policy, enhancing the capacity of government
agencies and associations to support SMEs and Start-ups, as well as direct skills development and
linkages.

Prior to his international engagements, Richard accumulated substantial experience in exporting
agricultural products to markets such as China, India, Italy, and Kenya. He also ventured into IT and
tourism export, successfully penetrating markets in Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK.
Richard’s multifaceted experience extends to ICT4D and business incubation, where he contributed
significantly to initiatives with I-Network and Makerere University in Uganda.

Actively engaged in shaping Uganda’s business landscape, Richard is a valued member of the BPO and
Innovation Council of Uganda, Alliance for Trade in Information-Technology and Services (ATIS), and
The Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU). An alumnus of AIESEC, Richard holds a BBA and
numerous certificates in International trade, reflecting his dedication to continuous learning and
professional growth.
